Delete your Eligens account and data

This page is for users of Eligens DNA test and Eligens services provided by Eligens SIA.

How to request deletion

1. Send an email from the email address associated with your Eligens account to privacy@eligens.io.
2. Use the subject Eligens account deletion. State that you want your account and its associated personal data deleted. You do not need to attach your DNA report, password, payment details or identity documents to the initial request.
3. We will verify that you are the account holder before processing the request. If you cannot access your account email, contact the same address for assistance with verification.
4. We will respond about your request and explain any data that must be retained and the applicable retention period.

You can also start a request from the privacy section of the Eligens app, which opens an email to the same address. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account or server-side data.

What is deleted

Following verification, the request covers your account and associated personal data, including profile information, genetic and ancestry results, health reports and questionnaire answers, except information that must be retained for a lawful purpose described in our Privacy Policy. Deletion ends access to the account and deleted reports.

What may be retained

Some records may need to be retained to comply with legal obligations, administer an existing contract or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Accounting records may be retained for up to 10 years from the last order, as stated in the Privacy Policy. Retention exceptions do not mean that all of your genetic or health data is automatically retained for that period. We will explain exceptions applicable to your request.

The Privacy Policy describes the other retention periods and lawful grounds. For example, ordinary service, genetic and health data is generally subject to a maximum period of two years from the last account login, or withdrawal of consent where applicable, subject to the policy's retention conditions. A deletion request does not require waiting for that ordinary retention period to expire.

Delete selected data or withdraw consent

You may instead ask to delete specified personal data or withdraw a particular consent by emailing privacy@eligens.io and describing your request. Removing information needed to provide a service can make that service unavailable.
